Dark Souls 2 is a great game, but I was happy to be playing the original release without DLC so that I wasn’t biting off more than I could proverbially chew.
Here’s a relatively short clip compilation of the bosses and boss-like encounters that I was able to defeat during my livestreams.
Dark Souls 2, known as the black sheep of the series, is what brought me back to streaming after a long absence 10 years ago. I had just bought a new computer with my brother and decided to stream with him providing commentary over my shoulder. We ended up getting a few hundred viewers and its stuck in my head ever since. We only made it to the Flexile Sentry back then, but it left an indelible mark.
Fast forward nearly a decade and viewers on my Youtube channel voted for me to stream Dark Souls 2 as my next game after completing Odallus: the Dark Call. What started as a failed experiment at getting a head start on the game turned into a mix of my bread and butter strategy of smacking things hard and trying out hexes for the first time.
We ran through most of the game quickly once we were able to upgrade my Scimitar and eventually graduate to a Halberd. For the bosses or areas that gave me trouble, I would try to cheese them with Dark Fog. Eventually, I ran into trouble with the last two bosses until realizing that I had played the rest of the game hollowed and could just summon a phantom to help me out.
Finally, Nashandra kicked me in the groin for 5 hours until I upgraded my S-ranked named Rapier and ran the “standard” build for Dark Souls 2 to beat the last boss and put an end to the base game. I’ll eventually return to beat the DLC bosses, but until then I’ll be playing something from the Dominus Collection.
